Create component footprints from scratch

Mechanical

Refer to the correct datasheet version number
Ensure the correct unit of measurement is used

Silkscreen

Label all power pins at the minimum
Number all pins
Match chip placement on PCB with the physical package to indicate o or ◖ on the silkscreen
Add bounding boxes for the components
Ensure copper pads are not covered by Silkscreen

Silkscreen

Adhere to standard text size
Add project name, version, month and year
Add open source hardware logo 9.8x8mm
Add getting started URL
Add + and - annotations to all power connectors
Add voltage values to all power connectors
Add notes beside all optional components
Add placement marks for components
Add any info on assembly, test and bringing up the board

After layout

Run b to refill all zones on all layers in KiCad
Ensure ERC and DRC are passing
Look through the 3D view
Print individual layers and check them
Export layers F.Cu, B.Cu, F.SilkS B.SilkS, F.Mask, B.Mas, Edge.Cuts in Gerber format
Export drill files NPTH.drl, PTH.drl
Check Gerber format layer by layer
Check Solder mask openings smaller than the solder pad
Check no text on solder pads
